Every month I send out a newsletter to share my latest news, contest, promotions, ideas, tips etc. I would love for you to join the excitement by subscribing here …… you will also receive a FREE e-book on How to get ready for a Photoshoot.
In January, I thought it would be fun to start the year with a Facebook Photo contest where people would submit a Holiday photo of their child/children. The winner would win a studio session and choice of 10 5×7 value of $375.00.
Back in 2005 I had photographed Josee and Patrick’s wedding. Since then, they had a daughter and a son and were very interested in participating in the contest by submitting a photo of their son Maxime.
In order for the votes to be eligible, people had to ‘like’ my Facebook Page and ‘like’ their photo. Josee and Patrick were the lucky winners with 98 votes.
We sure had fun in the studio with Max and Channelle doing all sorts of poses, trying out all sorts of props, backgrounds and clothing. These photos were too precious not to share and I’m sure everyone who voted are anxious to see them. Especially the grandparents!!!
I asked Josee & Patrick how they managed to stay on top of everyone and to get 98 people to vote for their photo as this was not an easy task.
1) Why did you decide to participate in the contest
As a past client (Chantal Benoit did our wedding photos back in 2005) and became Facebook friends. I received a message through her newsletter explaining the holiday photo contest on Facebook. I discussed it with my wife Josée and decided to participate in the contest and sent a photo of our son Maxime. We never had professional photos done of our children and this seemed like a good opportunity to win a free professional photoshoot… At first it looked pretty easy; just to submit a photo and have friends like your photo, but let me tell you, it’s a lot more work than I thought!!!
2) How did you manage to win and stay above everyone
At first we both “shared” our picture and the link to Chantal’s Facebook page on our Facebook wall and ask our parents and friends to do the same. And we would repost it on our Facebook walls every couple of days so it would reappear on everyone’s wall. Then we both created an event through Facebook that was sent to all our Facebook friends, with all the instructions; to “like” the photo and to “like” Chantal’s page. We had to verify each and every vote to make sure they “liked” both places, if not we would send them a message with the instructions… this was the biggest challenge. Some people would “like” only the photo or the album instead of the photo or forgot to “like” Chantal’s page. If someone was on the Facebook chat that had not voted, we asked and explained them how to vote. We also promoted the photo by putting it as our profile picture. We would like to thank our family and friends and friends-of-friends, who voted and shared the link… without them we wouldn’t have won this contest.
3) Describe your experience with the studio session.
The reason why we never had professional photos done was because we were afraid that our children would not co-operate. But our experience at the studio with Chantal was excellent… She offered to take pictures of our oldest daughter. We were very happy because we wanted to have a professional picture of both of them together. She asked us to bring different outfits for both kids and co-ordinating outfits to photograph them together. When we arrived in the studio, she had already prepared different props for the photoshoot. My 4 year old daughter Chanelle, is very shy, but Chantal knew how to break her shell, make her laugh and to put her at ease… not to mention the little candies… they worked every time for a little smile… As for my son Maxime, he is 11 months and loves to move; as all 11 month old boys do!!! Chantal had some tricks up her sleeve to make him look at the camera (her squeaky chicken) or to make him laugh (tickle him with her duster on a stick) or to make him sit still (the Chocolate Cheerios). Children do not always co-operate and they move a lot but she managed to take some very beautiful shots, was very patient and took her time… She did various poses with different backgrounds and props. We are very satisfied with her service and the photos are beautiful… We had so much trouble choosing our poses because they were all beautiful and unique. Thank you Chantal, you did an excellent job, you are a true professional and we would recommend you to everyone.
Feel free to leave your comment. Would love to hear from you.
Baby photos are absolutely precious. They make parents extremely happy as the birth of a child is such an exciting time in their life.
Vicki and Ken got married in November 2004 at St. Patrick’s Church on Fallowfield Road. It was a beautiful fall day.
They are now the proud parents of their 2 month old baby boy, Hunter. They decided it was time to have a portrait session done so they could remember this stage in Hunter’s life.
Hunter is an adorable baby. Of course, both his parents are so gorgeous!!!
Vicki and Ken are pretty simple people and chose to keep their images that way. Their images are timeless and classic.
I’m sure glad they made me part of another precious moment.
