Ottawa Maternity Photographer – Pregnant? Give yourself a nice gift.

You just found out your are expecting.  Congratulations on your pregnancy.  Having a child is an exciting stage in your life.

You want to capture your pregnancy glow to commemorate the experience where your life begins as a mother but don’t know where to start and have several questions.

Let me answer some of your questions and offer you some guidance.

A Maternity session is usually done as of the 7 months of the pregnancy.  Some women prefer to wait at the end of their pregnancy because their pregnant state does not show much some other prefer to come earlier.  It all depends on your comfort.  It is always best to have the session done earlier to avoid water retention and swelling.  Sometimes the baby arrives earlier and the chance to capture the maternity glow is gone.  The importance is to capture you at your best and to highlight your stomach and face.

Partners and children are welcome to join the session to make it more memorable.  Some of the most unforgettable maternity photographs feature the mother with her partner or child with their hand on her stomach.

Accessories such as teddy bears, booties, blocks to spell the baby’s name are available.  Personalized objects are welcome too.

Having your photo taken while you are pregnant is really no different than any photo session. The more natural you look, the better the photos will turn out. You can choose to dress up or dress down by wearing casual or bedroom attire.  A tank top, open blouse, tube tops to show the belly, pyjama bottoms or yoga pants are ideal too.  You can even have a tastefully semi-nude or nude shots taken. It’s up to you whether you’d like to be nude, wear snug clothing, or be draped with beautiful fabrics that will allow your skin to show through.
The images are taken by myself (Chantal) no other employee are present during the photo session. The photos are done by the use of lighting and posing in positions that are comfortable, attractive, and accentuate your stomach such as laying on your side, standing for a side pose, or kneeling at an angle that will make your stomach stand out prominently. Pregnancy photography will capture your beautiful form.

Some recommendation before the photo session would be to wear loose clothing to avoid marks on the skin.  Take care of any personal leg, bikini and underarm grooming a few days before to allow redness or blemishes to go away.

I hope these tips were usual for you.

Ottawa Maternity Photographer – Have you Seen the Glow?

Laurie and Clinton are expecting their first child at the end of June. Their baby is a boy and they have chosen to name him Tristan.  They are a calm and quiet couple. Clinton is very supportive which is what every women needs. Watching them interact with each other was breathtaking and so inspiring to capture. They love looking at each other, kissing, you can tell they are truly in love with each other.

Laurie is simply a glowing and graceful mommy with porcelain skin. There is something so beautiful about a pregnant women. The serenity in her face as she thinks about the life growing inside of her.

Ottawa Maternity Photographer – Simply Glowing

Anne-Marie & Richard are glowing because they are expecting their first child.  They don’t know if it’s a boy or a girl.  It’s a surprise!

They got married on a beautiful October day in 2006 in St-Pascal and I was their chosen photographer.  Their photos were very colorful with the fall scenery.

One of their good friend, Amélie, called me to put together a gift certificate so she could offer them a gift.  That made me happy because I like to be part of my client’s milestones.

It was easy capturing Anne-Marie & Richard photo’s since they are a such gorgeous couple.  Imagine what the baby will look like!!!

I’m looking forward in documenting the first year of their child.  Stay tune for more blog post to come within the year.

Casual Ottawa Maternity Portraits

Julie, who is not my cousin even though we have the last name, is expecting her third child.  Her first maternity was done in the studio in the dark background the second was done in the light background so I proposed to Julie this time we do an outdoor session.

We went to Petrie Island which is a beautiful area in Orleans for photos.  Benoit and Vincent joined us for the session.  We walked around taking a variety of images.  We played with blocks, paint, baby sign and rocks.

It always a pleasure to work with Julie as she is open to all sort of ideas and often has her own.  Julie had brought some paint so we could do a photo of a pair of feet on her belly using Vincent’s feet.  When she came in to see her proofs, she told me Vincent decided to play with the red paint at home by colouring his feet again and walked all over the carpet.

This photo is my favourite as it is candid, casual and captures a story.

Un gros merci de ta confiance encore une fois.
